Staff Seminar

With a constant eye on the future, CEO Rabbi Shimon Levy arranged a comprehensive two-day seminar for the administrative staff of Seeach Sod on May 8-9. The purpose of the seminar was to review and reflect upon the previous year's work plan and evaluate achievements, in order to implement an effective "work blueprint" for the new school year of 5774.

Each year, the top members of Seeach Sod's staff, with the direction of Rabbi Levy, design a "work blueprint" – a detailed plan comprised of a set of principles, priorities and methods that will be employed to achieve goals. At the seminar, which took place in the Boutique Hotel near Teveria, branch directors, pedagogical coordinators, paramedical program coordinators, social workers and administrative directors enjoyed a wide range of programs that were both stimulating and productive. Past methods were scrutinized, success rates evaluated, satisfaction levels appraised and innovative approaches discussed. One of the keynote sessions was the presentation of the five guiding principles which will serve as the basis for next year's modus operandi. Each department presented sample elements of their work plan for the coming year while showing how those elements reflected the five guiding principles.

Program features included: an enlightening lecture by Mr. Shachar Tzadok on the subject of "communication", stimulating workshops and interactive discussions on relevant topics. The seminar culminated with a summarization of the various topics explored as well as effective solutions.

On the way home from the seminar, the buses stopped at the kever of the Shelah, where participants recited the Shelah's special prayer for success in chinuch, on the particularly auspicious day of erev Rosh Chodesh Sivan.

The seminar is just one component of Rabbi Shimon Levy's progressive approach to special education. For Rabbi Levy, the work done in Seeach Sod is not simply special education; it's serious business, and just like every other business, it requires constantly setting higher goals and employing the proper means to achieve those goals.
