The apartment's vision is to foster the inhabitants' sense of personal independence and to give them the tools needed to live on their own, including cooking, cleaning, laundering, ironing, folding laundry, washing the house, managing an apartment budget as well as a personal budget. Another goal is to build inhabitants' communication skills - to listen to one another, to learn how to deal with difficult interpersonal situations, and how to develop healthy friendships, and more. 

The apartment staff have a social worker guiding them with a weekly meeting, and the staff in turn have weekly apartment meetings with all of the inhabitants.
