Chanukas Habayis Maas Ashira

In a touching display of respect towards the special-needs community, on July 12, 2011 large crowds partook in an inauguration ceremony for the new Ma’as Ashira wing, which houses Seeach Sod’s vocational center for girls. The occasion marked the completion of a beautiful new building whose construction was funded by the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, the Dear Foundation, the National Insurance Institute, the Shalem Foundation, the Welfare Ministry and the Jerusalem Municipality. Thanks to the active cooperation of the various partners and input by Seeach Sod staff headed by CEO Rabbi Shimon Levy, the construction project was completed in a relatively short time.

An Inspiring Siddur Party

Tefillat Yaldah” (“A Girl’s Tefillah”) – An Inspiring Siddur Party

A moving siddur party was held for the first graders of Ma’oz Yerushalayim. The entire staff pitched in to help the play manager Mrs. S. Shneidman, the teacher Mrs. C. Steinberg, and her assistant H. Sheinfeld in their efforts to put together a party of distinction. The seven first graders outdid themselves by starring in an impressive performance that imparted a poignant message and made their families so proud!

Chumash Seudah

Chumash Seudah for the First Graders of Otzar Yerushalayim

When Otzar Yerushalyim celebrated a Chumash Seudah for its first graders, the sight alone of the boys dressed in festive clothes with elaborate crowns perched on their heads was adequate proof of the momentousness of this occasion. This moving scene represented the merging of two paths: that of the special-needs child and a milestone that is eagerly celebrated by every Jewish child – entering the world of Torah. Answering questions on Chumash posed to them by their melamed Rabbi Pshitick, the children amazed the audience with their knowledge about the basics of Creation as written in Parshas Bereishis, which they had just begun to learn. The event, which was orchestrated with a lot of effort and creativity on the part of the devoted teacher S. Zaks, included video presentations of the boys involved in Torah and mitzvos and ended with a round of spirited dancing, with the young celebrities held aloft on their fathers’ shoulders.

May the merit of Torah stand them in good stead and help them achieve success in all areas!
